Two social dates - Quiz Night and Drink The Bar Dry - for your diary

David Chappell6 Mar - 12:04

A fun end to the 2024-2025 season at the Nevill clubhouse

The last two Brighton & Hove Hockey Club social events of the season - Quiz Night and Drink The Bar Dry - are coming up in the next few weeks. And of course, there's still the annual Dinner Dance on Saturday May 10 at The Old Ship Hotel for which tickets are on sale now.

Quiz Night is back at the Nevill clubhouse on Saturday March 15 for the second time this season - a social so good we had to do it twice!

Starting at 7pm, resident quizmaster Michaela Kerrigan will lead the club through a number of fun and challenging rounds. With a maximum of six people per quiz team, you can either get a group together before the night, or come along and join a table on arrival. £2 per person.

So log the date and get ready to engage your brain!

To coincide with the final league matches of the season on Saturday April 5 it's the annual 'Drink the Bar Dry' as we prepare to hand the clubhouse over to the cricket club for the summer. Everything must go!

Tickets for hge club's annual dinner dance on Saturday May 10 at The Old Ship Hotel on Brighton seafront are available to buy via the club's website.

Join your clubmates for a lively night of fun, prizes and entertainment at the end-of-season celebration. Tickets cost £50 per person. The evening features a three-course meal with wine, the players of the year awards, a raffle with excellent prizes and a DJ to knock out some banging tunes to dance to later. And there's the huge annual 100 Club+ draw with bonus prizes on the night - details of how to join in that are below.

The deadline for booking tickets is Saturday April 19 so that numbers can be finalised with the hotel and table plans sorted. So book now to avoid disappointment as tickets sell fast.

Tickets are available to purchase via the club website - go to 'shop' in the navigation bar and click on 'dinner dance 2025 ticket'. You can choose to sit with your teammates.

Because numbers need to be limited to 180 in order to avoid the overcrowding of last year the club's committee has decided adult members will be given priority. However from March 14 any tickets still available will be open for Year 12 and 13s to purchase. If you have any questions regarding the evening's arrangements, please contact Olivia Howes or Mirriam Al-mashat or on ticket policy to members of the committee.

If you haven’t signed up yet for the popular 100 Club+ - which offers the chance to win great cash prizes while supporting the club at the same time - here's what to do.

Those who join the 100 Club+ make a monthly contribution of just £10 to a communal prize pot. Every month the draw offers four prizes - and then there is much more in May's bumper annual prize draw made live at the dinner dance. And the higher the number of total entries means more prizes will be added proportionately.

Overall Brighton & Hove Hockey Club keeps around 50% of the contributions made, with the rest given out in prizes. All funds raised will go towards great club causes such as new equipment or towards our new clubhouse!

Register with James Millar - james.a.millar@gmail.com - and/or Paul “Potter” Ripsher - paul_ripsher@hotmail.co.uk - to join the 100 Club+ fun and get your ticket for the draw.
