Nine wins and a draw.

Holcombe M2s 5-2 BHHC M1s
Patrick Ford reports: "The M1s got on the road for the final away game before Christmas to face Holcombe M2s. A strong side with countless international caps in their squad. This experience showed in the first quarter as Reuben Sendzul and Rafael Dekkers goals could only be answered by Brighton’s Tim Upchurch from a short corner. Holcombe’s Louis Parker was the next to take advantage after a defensive mix-up left him through on goal to bring the score to 3-1 on the stroke of half time.

Reinvigorated after the break, Juan Sosa soon gave Brighton something to hope for with yet another impressive field goal having beaten 2 or 3 defenders. The optimism was short lived though, as Mubashar Ali tucked away and dragflick from a short corner just 2 minutes later. The final quarter was tense with Brighton still feeling as though they had more to give. Resilient defending and some incredible saves from goalkeeper Chris Borsoi kept the dream of a comeback alive until the 61st minute when Louis Parker got his second after a goal line scrap.

Brighton now have one more game before the Christmas break at home against London Wayfarers in a club double header this Saturday at 6pm."

Eastbourne W1s 2-1 BHHC W1s
Grace McAlister reports: "Brighton Women’s 1s delivered a confident and creative performance against Eastbourne, showcasing some of their best hockey of the season.

From the back the team built play brilliantly, with sharp distribution and intelligent use of aerials to open up the pitch. Honey set the tone early with a superb aerial ball to Sorrell, who produced an excellent first touch to drive Brighton forward. Kayla followed suit with a strong trap along the line before threading a well-timed pass inside. Up front, Joey’s relentless high press paid off as she forced a turnover that led to a well worked goal. Molly’s dynamic leads complemented the attack perfectly, often combining neatly with Joey to threaten the Eastbourne defence. In the D, Meg W remained composed under pressure, while Meg M fired several powerful balls across the pitch to switch play effectively. Abi added flair and precision with some tidy passing made even more notable by her trademark on pitch glamour. At the back, Hannah controlled the tempo with excellent distribution, and Rachel stepped up with crucial interceptions and strong tackles. Orla showed great connection with the pitch sometimes a bit too literally adding to the team’s spirit. Meanwhile, Amanda was outstanding in goal, making several agile, match defining saves.

A strong, cohesive team performance throughout, even though it was an unlucky loss.
POTM: Joey Bryant - great goal and amazing effort throughout the whole game.
Good of the game: Grace McAlister - green card."

BHHC M2s 2-1 Sunbury & Walton Hawks M1s

BHHC W2s 1-4 Guildford W3s

Crawley M1s 4-3 BHHC M3s

Mid Sussex W1s 4-0 BHHC W3s
Mirriam Almashat reports: "On a cold, miserable Saturday afternoon, the W3s headed over to the Triangle for our clash against Mid Sussex 1s. Despite the weather and a few of our usual faces soaking up the sun in Mexico and Thailand (jealous, obviously), the squad showed up ready to work hard and give it a proper go.

From pushback, our defence of Diva, Abby, Flo, Emma and Izzy were thrown straight into action as Mid Sussex came out strong. They managed to score within the first 10 minutes, but our backline settled quickly and put in some brilliant tackles, clearances and tracking runs. Our midfield - Anna, Imo, Beth and Wan - grafted non-stop, covering miles, linking play, and keeping us competitive through the middle. Imo had her trademark bursting runs, Anna swept up every loose ball she could reach, Beth controlled the centre with calm composure, and Wan was everywhere she needed to be. Up front, Jo, Shelley, Mirriam and Ange battled to create chances. One of the highlights came when Shelley absolutely cracked a shot at goal - powerful enough to unfortunately take out their keeper (who is okay!), but somehow STILL the ball refused to cross the line. How rude.

And of course, the moment of the match: Diva, under pressure at the back, unleashed one of her trademark rockets - only for it to fly straight into Jo’s back from point-blank range. The thud could probably be heard in Brighton. Jo took it like an absolute warrior, though her spine may send a formal complaint later. Mid Sussex later extended their lead after a penalty flick was awarded - a questionable decision - which allowed them to slot in another goal. We’ll politely leave that one there. We still put together some lovely passages of play, with great link-ups between the midfield and attacking line, but it just wasn’t our day. Meanwhile, Jess H pulled off several brilliant saves to keep us fighting and prevent the scoreline from getting any bigger.

It was our first loss of the season, but the team worked hard from start to finish, supported each other, and battled right to the final whistle. With everyone back and in their usual positions next week, we’re ready to reset, regroup, and come back stronger."

BHHC M4s 5-0 Crawley M2s
Evan Hitchen reports: "HMS PSS the League steamed to another dominant victory as Brighton M4s sank Crawley 5–0 in cold heavy rain. The crew took control from the first whistle, firing goals like cannon shots and cruising through the game with barely a ripple of resistance. Skipper Rollo marshalled the ship superbly, even managing the feat of hat-trick avoidance, finishing with a noble tally of zero while letting the rest of the crew claim the treasure. Five goals, clean sheet, and another routine voyage — HMS PSS the League sails on.
Harley Harden x2, Evan Hitchen x2 and Michael Bradford scored.
MoM: Harden. DoD: Squire."

BHHC Gulls Girls 3-2 Hawks Girls

BHHC Boys U16 A 5-0 Guildford Boys U16 B
Myles Ford reports: "The boys put in a comprehensive performance over a Guildford team, who struggled to overcome Brighton's high press, intensity and work rate. After a number of good opportunities early in the game, Noah opened the scoring, quickly followed by Morton's finish from the top of the D and Woody adding a 3rd to put Brighton 3-0 up after 15 minutes. The game continued with Brighton's forward press forcing errors from the Guildford back 4, Morton carrying through the heart of the Guildford midfield and Brighton progressing up the pitch with sharp passing in tight spaces as everyone in a Brighton shirt showed confidence on the ball. Lincoln then added a 4th goal just before half time to put the game to bed just before the break.

The second half saw no let up in Brighton's control as Guildford struggled to get out of their half, Brighton's forwards reacting to turnovers to counter press, and the back 3 and midfield screen maintained sound positional discipline to maintain possession through transfers and channel switches. Noah added a 5th after getting on the end of Tom's Fletty-style slider as Brighton's dominance continued to the final whistle, securing a well-deserved clean sheet. We travel to Lewes next Sunday top of the table."

BHHC Girls U16 Cormorants 9-2 Reigate Priory Girls U16 Polecats
Simon Healy reports: "Another convincing display for the Cormorants, maintaining their 100% record this season. Reigate only arrived with 10 players, but started with great skill and urgency, causing us a lot of problems in the first half. We defended several short corners and Ivy was called on to make at least 4 great saves. At the other end we created chances of our own and were thankful to go in to the break 2-1 up.

At half time we made two key changes, moving Sorrel to the left wing and instructing debutant Ze to man-mark Reigate’s star player. Both changes worked well - Ze did a fantastic job nullifying their threat, and Sorrel had the space to dominate the game. On the other wing Athena, Georgie and Imo were also able to combine well. As the game wore on Reigate began to tire and the last 20 minutes were one way traffic. The eventual tally was 9 goals - 5 for Imo, two for Poppy, one for Kayla and a fantastic strike from Grace. Poppy was denied a hat-trick by an overly hasty umpire’s whistle. MoMs were Ivy and Imo. But this was another great team performance. Next up are arch-rivals Eastbourne in a fortnight."

East Grinstead Girls U14 Howard 5-2 BHHC Girls U14 Albatross

BHHC Girls U12
Jenny Tasker reports: "U12G - So glad the sun came out and we actually got a dry match!
Won 1, Drew 4 and lost 4
Brighton 1 vs Brighton 2 finished 2–2 so a really evenly matched game!
Goals: Beauela 3, Ines 2, Eleanor 2, Olivia 2
Some lovely passing on display and really strong attacking play. We had 1 solid defender holding the back for both teams, but it’s definitely an area we need to build on. Might be worth focusing on this in training and encouraging more of the girls to give defence a go? There was a lot of excellent play across a few players of both teams. Thank you to Anna for stepping up to manage a team."
