BHHC M1s No game.

BHHC W1s 2-1 Oxted W1s
Hannah Holloway reports: "Brighton came into this week's fixture with a mix of confidence and nerves. A well fought win over B&B the previous week had given the squad belief, but memories of a 0-2 defeat to Oxted earlier in the season meant no one was taking anything for granted.

Oxted had the pushback and immediately tested Brighton with an early attack. However, some excellent defensive work quickly turned the attack in favour of Brighton and a quick break saw Sorrel Lee one-on-one with the Oxted keeper. Sorrel made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball home to give Brighton an early lead.

The second quarter saw Oxted enjoy plenty of possession and earn a few entries into Brighton's D, but nothing that truly troubled the Brighton defence. Oxted found it tricky escaping the Brighton press and our magnificent midfield were able to force numerous turnovers high up the pitch creating several dangerous opportunities. Oxted struggled to cope with Brighton's speedy forwards and their efforts paid off with a run of penalty corners. Unfortunately Brighton couldn't quite find the finishing touch. Controversy followed when a Big Baz drag flick found an Oxted defender's stomach instead of the net. An Oscar worthy performance from the wincing defender left the umpire none the wiser and Brighton were denied what looked to be a clear penalty flick.

Oxted came out firing at the start of the third quarter, launching a sustained period of attacks and eventually earning a penalty corner. An initial save by Meg into Betty’s pads allowed for a rebound. The resulting ball trickled over the line, much to Oxted's delight and levelled the game. Unfortunately for Oxted, a few of their players put more effort into shouting at the umpires rather than playing hockey and two of them managed to get themselves sent off with greens.

The final quarter was where Brighton truly showed their character. Inspired by a rousing speech from Captain Baz to "send them home crying", and chants of team's core values, DETERMINATION and RESILIENCE, Brighton came out with renewed intensity. Crisp passing and patient build up play saw Brighton in control. A sleek ball from Hannah found Molly in the D, whose sublime pick and turn forced a foul from Oxted. Keeping their composure and remembering coach Alex's mantra to "just play hockey", Brighton worked the ball patiently leading to Joey Bryant finishing the move in style, slipping the ball through the goalkeeper's legs to restore Brighton. Hannah earned Goof of the Game by adding the comment that she was wide open on the post and could have also scored if Joey had passed the ball across. The final minutes were tense for players and supporters alike, but Brighton held firm, defending resolutely and even threatening to extend the lead. When the final whistle blew, Brighton had secured a hard-fought and thoroughly deserved victory. A performance built on teamwork, resilience, and a refusal to be beaten. We create our own luck.

MOM - Honey for great attacking work up the line (votes for almost everyone in the team. A great team effort)
GOOF - Hannah for being late, wearing crocs, saying she could have scored a goal, never doing anything wrong etc."

Mid Sussex M1s 0-2 BHHC M2s

BHHC W2s 1-2 Hailsham W1s

BHHC M3s 1-1 Mid Sussex M2s

BHHC W3s 3-3 BHHC W4s
Mirriam Almashat reports: "Derby day arrived as the W3s played against the W4s in a match full of, goals, laughter and the usual Brighton chaos.

Preparations alone set the tone: Emma took an early tumble in the warm-up, Wan managed to lose her belongings before pushback, and Jess H was feeling very unwell. Luckily, Andrea stepped up as emergency keeper and instantly became the hero of the day. Strong start, everyone!

Once underway, both teams came out firing. The W3s struck first with a beautifully worked goal - a perfectly timed pass finding Frances Holliday waiting patiently at the post to tap home and open the scoring. The W4s weren’t fazed and quickly responded with a goal of their own. But the W3s answered straight back, again thanks to Wan popping up once again, in exactly the right place to push the ball over the line and grab her second of the game. Before halftime, Imogen Healey did her trademark run to the baseline. After cutting back at just the right moment, she completely wrong-footed the keeper and lifted the ball into the top corner. Brilliant finish - sending the W3s into half time with a 3–1 lead.

The halftime team talk clearly favoured the W4s, who came out fighting in the second half. They applied pressure and managed to claw back two goals, levelling the game at 3–3 and setting up a tense finish.

At the back, Diva led the defence doing what she does best, alongside Emma, Zoe and Flo - solid tackles, strong positioning and plenty of communication. In screens, Ellen, Alex and Abby controlled the centre, while kelly, Jess O and Izzy worked hard in the middle to link play and look for attacking opportunities. Up front, Imo, Jo, Mirriam and Wan kept the W4s busy with constant movement, making space and pushing for a late winner - but in the end, neither side could find the decisive goal.

A proper derby: competitive, chaotic, full of goals, and still friendly enough to laugh about afterwards."

Eastbourne M3s 3-1 BHHC M4s
"Will Brickell scored in a tough away game against a decent Eastbourne side. For an early match, there were a lot of cards.

Horsham Girls Hotstars 5-8 BHHC Girls Gulls
Gina Kealey reports: "The BHHC Gulls delivered an outstanding team performance to secure an 8–5 win over Horsham. Leading 3–2 at half-time, early goals and strong play from Lula, supported by midfielders Innes and Georgiana and attacking work from Annabelle, set the tone. Defensively, Lucia and Fifi worked tirelessly, with Ciara outstanding in goal throughout.

Under the floodlights, the team stepped up a gear in the second half. Captain Georgiana led with determination, supported by the midfield feeding to Sienna, who drove play up the right wing and along the back line. The ball was worked well into the P-spot through Maisie, creating opportunities that Lula and others converted. Despite Horsham closing the gap late, the Gulls held their nerve to score two more goals and secure the win. This was the Gulls’ first win over Horsham in three years and a performance to be proud of, noted and praised by the opposition. An outstanding performance by the Gulls—well done!

Ciara was deservedly named Player of the Match for her exceptional awareness and shot-stopping in goal.
Goal scorers: Lula x3, Georgiana x3, Innes x1, Sienna x1."

BHHC Boys U16 A 1-5 Woking Boys U16 Wildcats

Havant Girls U16 3-3 BHHC Girls U16 Cormorants (Havant won 3-2 on shuffles)
Simon Healy reports: "Yes, it happened again. A year after going out of the cup in Canterbury again, the girls suffered the same fate again, but in very different circumstances.

The first half saw total domination from Brighton. An early PC goal from Grace after a great run by Athena gave us an early lead. Several great saves from the Havant GK stopped us adding to this, and then suddenly we were 2-1 down, over-confidence at the back saw us concede from two quick counter-attacks. Heads didn’t drop, and we kept piling forward - we were denied a clear penalty flick before Kayla finally grabbed an equaliser on the stroke of half time.

The second half was more balanced, but we still dominated the chances, more incredible goalkeeping and another stonewall flick not given frustrated us. Grace did manage a third with 20 minutes left, but another lapse at the back saw Havant equalise for 3-3.

Shuffles loomed, before yet another penalty corner with two minutes left saw Sorrel smash the ball home for the win. Or so we thought. As Havant played the restart, we suddenly found the umpires wry belatedly disallowing the goal, apparently for the ball not leaving the circle. This highly contentious decision left the girls confused, upset and angry - and made it incredibly hard for them to focus for the resulting shuffles. We are left completely gutted for the girls - they deserved so much better than this."
