Sittingbourne M1s 3-4 BHHC M1s
Adam Flett reports: "Brighton secured a hard-fought victory away at Sittingbourne after recovering from a 10th minute opener from the hosts. Tim Upchurch converted a penalty corner in the 15th minute to turn the momentum in Brighton's favour, and then Stan Liles scored in the 30th minute. Sittingbourne levelled just before halftime.
James Rayward restored Brighton's lead in the 50th minute, and though Sittingbourne levelled ten minutes later, Adam Flett struck the final winner from a penalty corner in the 65th minute. Outstanding resilience from the entire squad to take all three points home!"

Alexandra Smart reports: "13 intrepid travellers packed up their cars for a late Summer holiday to the Barcelona of England: Hastings. The excursion was more Jet 2 Holidays than a Mr & Mrs Smith mini break.
Somewhere along the way they entered a timewarp and arrived at Horntye Sports Complex - preserved since 1066. The team crammed into a small section of the changing room; trying to put shin pads on as a giant in a doll’s house was a challenge.
The patchwork quilt of an astro proved to be a real home advantage and from the off, the opposition played a form of polo to efficiently smack the ball over our sticks and up the uneven beach of a pitch.
After a scramble in the D catching a foot on the line, South Saxons were awarded a flick. With the P spot looking more like a hole on a golf course, we weren’t sure that it could be flicked. Unfortunately they teed off well and despite a valiant effort from Emmelina, the ball slipped into the goal to give the home side a 1-0 lead early on.
Divinity put in a solid shift at the back, intercepting many a flying ball. Florentine effectively used her keepy uppy skills to defeat the dodgy pitch surface and Jessabelle flew up the right to drive the ball out of defence.
Recently returned from what we hope was better than a Jet 2 Holidays honeymoon, Georgiana quickly found her feet with the team and was a crucial outlet in the middle of the pitch with strong balls into the attacking line, alongside Lisabetta and Bethanie who worked tirelessly in midfield.
When DowntonAbby wasn’t on the phone making sure Gregg’s sausage rolls were fit for human consumption, she was distributing the ball and almost scoring penalty corners. Hannatine sacrificed a home game for this jaunt along the coast and was a welcome addition with great runs and some threatening attacking play.
We stepped up our game in the second half with relentless attacks (their words - true fact). An out and in penalty corner care of Josephina and Alexandria was saved in the first phase, picked up cleanly by Shellington who scored the rebound.
Despite multiple circle entries and trying every variation on countless penalty corners, it wasn’t our day to finish the job. Millington embraced the physical nature of the game, powering her way towards goal. She was such a threat, she had her stick taken out of her hands to stop her scoring off the post. Shellington managed to hold onto the ball all the way into the D despite being repeatedly stabbed with hockey swords and Josephina smashed a lot of balls on target that were well saved by the keeper.
In the final minutes momentum switched and we came under fire. With a high ball win the opposition capitalised on an overload in the D to score again. It was a disappointing result but we’re confident we can get the job done on home turf for the return fixture.
PoM: Jessabelle. There were reasons given, but Mirriamie can’t read words with more than two syllables.
DoD: Emmelina - Trapping her head in a car door and possibly concussing herself. Full respect for dragging your parents to Hastings so that you could get there and play!"
BHHC M4s 2-1 Worthing M3s
"Rollo Squire and Hugh Parkinson scored in a competitive match against an experienced Worthing M3s side. The visitors, who were also promoted from last season, passed the ball well and struck the opener from a penalty corner. The M4s created chances but fluffed quite a few of them. In the second half Rollo got the equaliser and Hugh volleyed in to take the lead. The M4s held off multiple Worthing attacks to get three points.
MoM: Hugh Parkinson. DoD: Harley Harden for not converting some chances."
