Seven wins, including the men's 1s, and a draw.

Southgate M2 1-2 BHHC M1s
Patrick Ford reports: "The M1s travelled up to Southgate Hockey Centre on the train after a weekend off fixtures last week. There was an air of positivity amongst the squad pre-game and this converted into a riveting first quarter, as James Rayward finished off a saved dragflick in a short corner awarded just seconds into the game. Southgate didn’t take long to strike back though, winning their own short corner within a couple of minutes. Will Heywood initially cleared the ball off the line before the ball fell into the path of Giulio Ferrini who made it 1-1 after just 7 minutes. Unfazed, Brighton created another attack down the right hand side which resulted in a ball across goal to a waiting Nirmaan Mudher who took his chance to score his first national league goal.

The second quarter was almost as eventful as the first, with plenty of opportunities for both teams. Will Heywood made an impressive goal line clearance and BHHC junior Stan Liles linked up well with James Rayward to create a chance that just wasn’t finished off on the stroke of half time. From this point though, Southgate started to get themselves on the front foot, creating many a chance throughout the second half. Most notably in Q4 when a mis-trap lead to a Southgate forward carrying the ball fast into the Brighton D. An initial tackle was broken through, before two Brighton defenders tripped over each other and bumped into the Southgate ball carrier. A penalty stroke was given and momentarily it looked certain that Brighton would have to wait even longer for their first win of the season. However, Chris Borsoi in goal went the right way to save the flick and keep hope alive. The rest of the game consisted mostly of Southgate holding possession high up the pitch and Brighton standing firm and "winning the Ds"(as instructed by coach Daf Charles).

A 2-1 win will give hope to the M1s who appear to be in a similar position to last season now. With Hampstead and Westminster next week, they’ll be hoping to start a points-scoring streak to help climb the league table."

BHHC W1s 1-2 Holcombe W2s
Kayla Wienekus reports: "Saturday’s hockey match for the women’s 1st team was a display of teamwork and determination from start to finish.

Sorrel showed amazing stick work, skilling through many defenders and creating several opportunities in the circle. Bara kept the opposition under pressure with some perfectly timed aerials that stretched the play and opened up space across the pitch. The defensive quartet were rock solid at the back, read the game and cleared danger away with calmness. In the screen, Rach, Megs, and Orla provided a strong link between defence and attack. Aoife and Liv’s tireless work rate stood out as they chased every loose ball and supported both ends of the field. Up front, Grace, Kayla, and Dani kept the opposition defence on edge, setting an effective press and always looking dangerous in front of goal. Amanda was always reliable in the box and made some crucial saves to keep the team in the game. Unfortunately we conceded another goal making it a 2-1 loss. Everyone played very well and gave everything in the game.

Scorers: Grace McAlister
Hero of the game: Sorrel Lee
Goof of the game: Kayla Wienekus - spilled water bottle in the bag."

Old Georgians M3 1-2 BHHC M2s

Reigate Priory W1 2-0 BHHC W2s

BHHC M3s 2-1 Southwick M1s

Crowborough W1s 2-5 BHHC W3s
Mirriam Almashat reports: "Brighton W3s arrived in Crowborough full of energy (and car-ride team talks), with Jo’s final pep talk ringing in everyone’s ears - “We just need an early goal!”

Four minutes in, that’s exactly what happened. Mirriam slotted home the opener to put Brighton ahead and prove Jo right! Not long after, Brighton earned a short corner and Kelly spotted her moment - striking beautifully to double the lead. 2–0 and spirits were flying high. Our defence was rock solid throughout the first half - Diva and Flo calmly clearing under pressure, Anna making some brilliant tackles, and Emma and Kelly linking up perfectly at the back with their 1-2s. Ellen and Kelly were outstanding as screens, shutting down play and recycling possession. Jess H was a wall in goal, pulling off several crucial saves, while Jess O and Izzy ran the midfield with confidence and control.

Crowborough managed to sneak one back before half-time, but Brighton regrouped and came out strong. Just 1 minute 35 seconds into the second half, Mirriam struck again after a perfect pass from Kelly, keeping Brighton in the lead by 3-1. Shelley dazzled the opposition with her skills, and created plenty of chances. Crowborough responded with another goal to make it 3–2, but their luck ran out when one of their defenders decided to stop the ball with her foot. Up stepped Shelley - “Our Flick Queen” - cool and calm and collected, to nail the penalty flick and extend the lead to 4–2! Jo kept the pressure on with great link-up play and by creating many chances, and Imo’s trademark baseline runs caused chaos in the D - one of which ended in a perfect pass for Mirriam to complete her hat-trick. 5–2 Brighton and the game was sealed!

POM: Ellen & Jess O — rock-steady performances.
DOD: Jess H — for always being confused.

An all-round team effort, full of energy, teamwork, and goals. A cracking way to spend a Saturday!"

Worthing M4 1-7 BHHC M4s
"Rollo Squire x4, Evan Hitchen x2 and David Green scored in a slightly one-sided away game at Worthing. The 4s played well with good movement and passing. A number of chances were created and four goals were scored, then there was some heavy rain. In the second half Worthing regrouped and got a goal, but the 4s kept up the running and the passing to score three more.
MoM: Dave and Rollo. DoD: Bully got a green card for not retreating."

JUNIORS

BHHC Girls U12
Jenny Tasker reports: "A fantastic effort from the girls at the tournament at Angmering School! Results: Won 4, Lost 1, Drew 1 - a much stronger overall performance.
We saw some amazing attacking play, with goals from - Olivia 4, Eleanor 4, Sienna 2 and Clara 1. 11 goals were scored and only 4 were conceded, which is especially impressive considering we had no goalkeeper.
MOM : Fifi - she did an incredible job sweeping at the back and keeping us out of trouble. While we’re still developing defensively, our strength really shone through in midfield and attack.
Also a big shout-out to the girls who helped Crawley in their matches - brilliant teamwork and sportsmanship all round. Great morning!"
