Men's results 27-28 September 2025

H Moro1 Oct - 12:00

Three wins and seven defeats, including a club derby game.

Chelmsford M1s 5-3 Brighton & Hove M1s
Patrick Ford reports: “Brighton & Hove continued their National League campaign with a tough trip to Chelmer Park, eventually losing out on any points in a 5–3 loss to Chelmsford.
The home side made the brighter start and opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Brighton were a little slow to set up defensively after a turnover, and Chelmsford’s Justin Ross pounced, striking a backhand that deflected high and gave the recent league entrants from Conference Midlands an advantage heading into Q2.

Brighton were able to hit back though, as a swift attack down the right saw the ball fall to youngster Fintan Harman who was at the back post to score his first-ever National League goal. Captain Adam Flett also showed his class, pushing Brighton ahead with a drag flick from a short corner. The joy was short-lived, however, as Chelmsford restored their advantage from the penalty spot. A penalty stroke was awarded after a Brighton defender took a ball to the foot on the goal line in a short corner, and David Agar calmly slotted home. Almost straight from the restart, Chelmsford added a fourth through Jamie Carroll, punishing Brighton’s defensive lapse and making it 2-2 at halftime.

The 3rd quarter saw yet more goals in an increasingly dramatic game. With open play goals from Chelmsford’s Jamie Carroll and Brighton’s Sam Rose, the pressure was on both teams to deliver in the final quarter. On this occasion, Chelmsford rose to the occasion and David Agar put away two more goals from short corners that secured his hattrick and their second win of the season.

Brighton now sit 7th in EHL Conference East, level on points with 5 other teams, including Bromley & Beckenham who make the journey to Blatchington Mill for a 6pm pushback this Saturday.”
