Guildford 2s 4
Renée Ojikutu reports: "Guildford came to the seaside with everything to lose. And with an unfortunate three- goal lead at half time, it was a cruise for the league leaders.
There was some wonderful play from the home side in the first 35 minutes but, alas, not enough to keep our dream of three points alive. Some questionable umpiring led to me using the word 'broski'. The pitch felt very sticky and there were a lot of cut knees.
A disappointing 4-1 loss which does not reflect how well we played. It’s difficult to feel like we slayed. Elodie scored for us. We regroup and go again next week, coming back from Brom Beck with a glorious clean sheet.
MoM: Eliza Tudor-Wiliams.
DoD: Renee, for having a go at the umpires."

Alex Smart reports: "The unlucky Triangle hit the 3s hard, tumbling into third place on goal difference with a crushing defeat to Mid Sussex.
Despite a positive training session, complete with animal impressions, reward stickers and fancy goalscoring (inspired by something called the TikTok) we felt the heat and the pace when it came to match day.
After having so much time and space last week, it was a shock to the system being marked tightly and pressed effectively. The back line of Georgie, Diva, Amanda, Zoe and Aisha transferred the ball well but were immediately put under pressure and their one v one skills were put to the test. Ellen and Emily were crucial in screen to offer a short pass as midfielders Sorrel and Sumi were being tightly cuddled by their opponents to make it very difficult to receive the ball. Shelley, Izzy L and Izzy K had to battle hard for the ball and made some fantastic runs for a few cheeky counter attacks. Getting to the D felt exhausting in the Spring sunshine and we had limited success when we did enter the circle.
Mid Sussex took the lead with a straight strike on a penalty corner. We responded five minutes later with a trademark slap from Georgie on our own penalty corner.
The five packs of Squashies and Fruit Pastilles failed to revive the team at half time and the second half was a bit of a battering in our defensive D. Steph successfully saved several shots on goal and the defence consistently cleared the ball out of danger. Eventually Mid Sussex found their opening with a free player at the top of the D to take a 2-1 lead. Despite our best efforts to attack, it was very much a defensive game towards the end and we didn’t manage to claw back a point.
It’s all now very close in the top half of the table with next week’s opposition, Lewes, two points ahead and the following week’s opposition, South Saxons, three points ahead. East Grinstead and Mid Sussex are also hot on our heels with the same number of points."
