Junior U10s and U12s tournament held Sunday 30th November
Karen Edwards reports: "I would like to shout out a massive thank you to everyone who helped make our first all day junior U10s and U12s festival tournament such a great success. A special thank goes out to the W8s and the older juniors, without whom we could not have done this. Feedback from the clubs that attended has been amazing so we will definitely do it again!

A great time was had by all in the sunshine. The parents in particular appreciated the hot and cold drinks, savouries and sweet treats provided by Source It Sussex, run by club member Stephen Spears.

Sussex Young Umpires event held Saturday 29th November
England Hockey hosted an event at the M1s 18:00pm home match against London Wayfarers last Saturday (pictured) as part of the Sussex Young Umpires Programme.

The event was open to those aged 11-20 years old looking to improve their umpiring. Assembled on the south side of pitch 1, they were able to observe the match alongside a trio of umpire mentors, which enabled them to ask questions and pick up on insights and tips in real-time during the game. Afterwards they were able to speak with match umpires Simon Keys and Ian Dinwiddy in the clubhouse and hear their game debrief and thoughts on umpiring in general.

The programme aims to mentor young people from 7-a-side beginnings up to adult 11-a-side matches and beyond. For further details on how to get involved, please contact Victoria Dennett at youngumps@gmail.com.
