Brighton & Hove's Joey Bryant was part of the England women's team which won the Over-40s European Masters Championships in southern Spain over 10 days at the end of June/beginning of July.
Joey says: "I had the incredible honour again of representing England in the Over 40s Woman’s hockey team at the recent European Championships in Valencia and I’m proud to say we came home with the gold medal!
The tournament saw us go undefeated, playing in extremely challenging conditions with temperatures soaring above 40°C. We faced tough opposition from Czech Republic, Spain, Germany and an Alliance team in the group stages, before a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wales in the final secured our place at the top of the podium.
This was an unforgettable experience, made even more special by a fantastic group of teammates and the positive, determined spirit throughout the squad. Every player self-funded their participation, which makes achievements like this all the more meaningful, but also highlights the need for greater support from our clubs and the wider hockey community.
With the World Cup on the horizon next year, the journey continues. Bring it on!"
The club congratulates Joey on her latest representative achievement.
