Juniors weekend review - Ryley shines as under-12 boys win three out of three on debut

Brighton and Hove's under-12 boys team, the Falcons, played their first set of matches as part of the Sussex Hockey Development League, winning all three matches on the day.

"The sun was shining and the boys were ready," reports Masha Finn. "Playing Lewes Tigers, we were leading 3-0 at half time and had to rearrange the team for fair play. After scoring two more goals, two players came off but even with four outfield players we managed to score one more ultimately winning 5-0 (6-0).

"The second match was against a strong South Downs team. Exciting and very evenly matched, it was a great game to watch. After scoring a goal, Falcons managed to hold off the attack winning 1-0.

"The last match was played against Lewes Leopards, a stronger of the two Lewes sides. They managed to score a goal within the first minute but that only got Falcons to pull themselves together and they managed to use every set piece we practiced. There were some amazing goals from the forwards and midfield players and brilliant defence from Ryley (MoM for covering loads of the pitch stopping any opposition player that game his way). We won the last match 6-2.

"Well deserved three wins for a great team!"
