Dina Finn, one of the Brighton & Hove HC under-16 girls who won the EH Plate competition in such style last month, has been selected for the Hockey Ireland under-16 squad.
Dina has also been a regular member of BHHC women's 1s this season. The Irish under-16 girls will play a series against Scotland in Edinburgh in early July and a further tournament in mid-July in Terrassa, Spain.
Angela Farthing, whose goals helped BHHC's women's 3s win promotion from the South East Division One Martlets this season, has been chosen to represent the South in the Over 50s Inter-Area Championships this weekend.
Angela has played in the top three women's teams at BHHC over the past 28 years and while known as a forward in club hockey will be playing in midfield for the South at the Masters Women's tournament in Nottingham on May 14 and 15.
Congratulations to Dina (pictured above) and Angela and good luck with the tournaments.
Masters hockey is for club players aged 35 and upwards. England and World Hockey organise tournaments and knockout competitions based on five and 10 year age bands, from Over-35 up to Over-65 for women and Over-35 up to Over-80 for men.
"It’s great fun, achieves high standards of play and provides opportunities for us more mature players to play with those in our own peer groups," say England Hockey. "A brilliant feature of this is that every five years you transform from being an old lag in your age group into a sprightly young spring chicken in the next age group up."
BHHC has several members already playing international Masters hockey, including Ali Wheatley (England), Jon Williams (Scotland) and Phil Withers (Wales).
