Brighton & Hove Hockey Club have a league winning side to celebrate this season as the Cormorants have won the Under-16 Girls South East Tier 2 Pool D division.
Simon Healey reports: "Exciting to see now the dust has settled on the season that the Girls Under-16 Cormorants are top of their division with 22 points whilst Eastbourne are a close second with 18 points.
Despite suffering two close defeats to Eastbourne, the girls managed to win seven of their eight other games, scoring an average of five goals a game giving them the best goal difference in the division by some margin.
Together with a great run in the national cup competition (going out to Canterbury on sudden death shuffles in the quarter-finals) this has been a fantastic season for the Girls Uner-16s.
Looking forward to next year, we will obviously miss some great team players who move into the Under-18s but we still have real talent in the team and have some great prospects coming through from the Under-14s.
Thanks to everyone at the club for their amazing support - coaches, umpires and all the parents, who have made every game possible - and finally to the girls themselves for showing up to every game with total commitment and enthusiasm."
