Two sessions of four teams - 10.30am and 12.40pm - at Blatchington Mill School

Full details about the women's programme for Club Weekend, the curtain-raiser to the 2019-2020 season for Brighton and Hove Hockey Club, have been announced.

Club Weekend will be held over the weekend of September 7 and 8 at Blatchington Mill School, with the adults on the Saturday and juniors on the Sunday.

For the women, Saturday September 7 will be split into two sessions on the north pitch, with players looking to play for the 5s, 6s, 7s and 8s next season taking part in the morning from registration at 10.30am, warm up and ball skills with coach Wendy Russell from 10.45 to 11.30 followed by half-pitch 7-a-side matches until 12.30pm.

The programme for the 1s, 2s, 3s and 4s starts with registration at 12.40pm, followed by warm up and ball skills with coach Wendy Russell from 12.50 to 1.30 and then half-pitch 7-a-side matches until 2.30pm.

New Women's Club Captain Masha Finn says: "During the Club Women's Open Day, Wendy Russell, Neil Burlinson and team captains will provisionally put the squads lists together which will then be published on Pitchero on Monday 9th September. These are fluid for the first few weeks and will be finalised by the end of September.

"If you are unable to come to the club open day, do not worry. Come to training sessions on Mondays (7.30 to 9pm) and you will then be placed in a correct team and advised about which day your training will be. We very much look forward to seeing you all there."

Masha asks that players coming to Club Weekend please fill in a registration form beforehand via https://forms.gle/zjo1TQKBPeokwSkM7

Pre-season training for the women's section starts on Wednesday August 14 from 7.30pm to 9pm and runs until September 4. The sessions are aimed at those who wish to play for teams between the women's 3s and 8s and will take place on the north pitch at Blatchington Mill School in Hove.

FUEL Hockey, the club's new kit suppliers, will be in attendance on both days of Club Weekend showcasing a range of merchandise and offering services, including stick re-gripping, plus advice to parents and players to help inform their buying decision.
