Handmade jewellery makes a great gift and helps to support Amanda Chalmers

Limited addition Brighton and Hove Hockey Club bracelets and key chains - handmade locally as a gift to the club and being sold to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis in support of club member Amanda Chalmers - are now available to add to your kit selection.

"They are available at £3 each or two for £5, meaning you can happily have one of each for the price of a fancy pint," says Kate McDonald. You can get yours from Kate (contact details below) or via the honesty box in the teas canteen at Blatchington Mill School.

Helping the good causes

"Our lovely club member Amanda is currently recovering from her second lung transplant," says Kate. "She celebrated her first transplant by completing the Brighton marathon and those new lungs helped her climb mountains, win medals at the transplant games, raise thousands of pounds for charity and, most important of all, save goals for BHHC! We can't wait to see what she will achieve with her new set of lungs and wish her a speedy recovery.

"The bracelets and key chains have been made locally by Trevor, who is a friend of the club via a community befriending scheme run by Together Co. Trevor suffers from a chronic condition making it difficult for him to leave his home and enjoys making jewellery and other such crafty things to pass the time and put a smile on people's faces. A big thank you to Trevor for the support!

"Trevor is additionally also always looking for other people that he can share his hobby of jewellery making and crafting with - he has all of the materials, tools and knowledge needed and is happy to teach others these simple skills over a cup of tea. If you or a family member are interested in similar things and are looking for a nice way to pass some time, please also contact Kate McDonald who is supporting Trevor to find others to share his hobby with.

"Thanks to everyone who has supported these great causes so far."
