Bara Owen reports:
"I have got another tale,
about the Ladies 1s league sail.
However we did not win,
it's the new year, I say,
we are still getting into a spin,
but we are on our way!
Amelia was the one,
who scored for the glore,
I can only tell ya,
I wish she scored a few more.
Game was played,
in a high paced run,
everyone felt energised,
on Saturday, in the sun.
Woking attacked and equalised,
we knew we needed to respond,
none of us though realised,
it won't be by a wave of a wand.
Short corner pull-out well,
Bara flicked and hoped,
will this break the spell?,
as the ball was stroked.
It did work and we cheer,
but little did we know,
Woking didn't fear,
and put in one more for show.
Then again into the lead we go,
Lauryn from the short corner,
scored with her strike down low!
I wish it was the end,
and the whistle blew,
I'll tell you my friend,
we did feel a bit blue.
As for the win we hoped,
but got a point for a draw,
the whole game we roped,
next time we will win by four!
This week against Brom & Beck
playing at the home ground
we won't give them a peck,
come and see us, safe and sound!
MoM: Hannah
DoD: Katy
Goals - Bara, Amelia and Lauryn."

Alex Smart reports for the 3s: “Carb loaded and caffeine fuelled, the 3s were pumped and ready to do battle with the 2s. Fully backing her own team, Jo decided to enter the GMS result on Friday afternoon. Turns out she didn’t even back her own team, she made it 1-0 to the 2s. DoD for the rest of the season.
It’s always a good omen when Abbie brings an audience. Despite chatting to Beth and doing her meal planning for the week mid-match, when Abbie did see the ball she turned it on and cool as a cucumber kept a clean sheet.
Beth and Anna were delighted to have Amanda, Ellie and Isolda back (no offence to last week’s back line who were also awesome). Amanda missed having Sunday morning bumps and bruises last week so made up for it with multiple knocks to the hand, arm, chest and head.
Amazing interceptions and tackles, not to mention a save on the line from Beth, saved our bacon on multiple occasions as the 2s attacked hard in the first half. Taking Wendy’s guidance on board from training, transfers worked well to maintain possession and move up the pitch.
Aoife took the midfield briefing on board and was suitably disruptive in the middle, along with Becca who worked so hard she stopped breathing. Issy and Alex worked the sides of the pitch with the all important triangles, sending balls up the line for the fast forward line of Ange, Jo and Gayle. After a few strong circle entries, we found the goal in the first half after a bit of a scrap that involved flooring Emily and Gayle rolling the ball in.
The team worked well together all over the pitch, highlighted by Ange and Becca double teaming so closely that they ended up humping each other.
As if Jo wasn’t in the doghouse for poor admin already, she only went and got herself carded for knocking the ball away and claiming “I was just passing it to them”. No Italian gesticulation needed for that one.
1-0 up into the second half and the 3s were thirsty for more. Jo demonstrated textbook close stick skills, eliminating at least five players to get into the D and take a hard strike to roof the ball into the top corner.
Buzzing, everyone upped their game to work hard on attacking play. Aoife showed immense pace with a half-pitch sprint to retrieve a ball that everyone thought was going off the back line. As she sent the ball across the D, a scuffle between Ange and Emily resulted in a penalty flick. Jo stepped up and nailed a classy flick above the backboard to seal a much needed and wanted 3-0 win. If only we could actually view ourselves online off bottom spot in the league table.
Mass team celebration ensued with drinks for two - Beth and Alex.
MoM: Ange, Jo, Gayle (and everyone, aaahhh!!)
DoD: Jo "admin fail and green card" Whiting."
