The club congratulates Ali Wheatley, who has returned a winner for the England W60s after a thrilling final against the Netherlands at the 2025 WMH European Championships T3 held in Nottingham on 8 August - 17 August.
Ali says: "What an honour to be given another opportunity to wear the England shirt - the pride and gratitude never fails as I step onto the pitch each game.
We picked our way through the table game at a time, unbeaten to face the Dutch in what was the most thrilling final of my life. At 2-1 down and with just 6 seconds on the clock we were awarded a penalty corner. The clock ran down to 00:00 as the ball found its way onto a Dutch foot for a re-award. With total belief in our ability, the strike hit the backboard to thundering applause and the game moved into shuffles. We were prepared for these but our keeper was the hero, keeping the Dutch to just one conversion.
As ever, the hard work, months of preparation, team unity and tenacity, management team and support from family and friends came together in the journey to gold for which I will always be grateful.
The Masters family is unique and I will continue to encourage Brighton & Hove players to get involved with Cup matches and regionals again this season."
The club also congratulates Joey Bryant who recently returned with a gold for the England W40s from the 2025 Women's Masters Home Nations tournament held in Glasgow on August 1-3.
The club also congratulates Amanda Billington who recently returned with a gold for the England W50s from the 2025 Women's Masters Home Nations tournament held in Glasgow on August 1-3.
