New team to play in division three, Amanda Collier to captain women's vets

To match the continuing growth of Brighton and Hove Hockey Club's women's section, new Club Captain Masha Finn is delighted to announce that a women's 8th team has been entered and accepted into the Sussex Ladies League for the coming season.

The 8s will play in division three alongside their 7s clubmates. Masha and Wendy Russell believe this will allow the club to accommodate the ever-growing 7s squad as well as create space for the juniors transitioning into the adult section and to help their progress and development.

It means the women have the same number of adult teams playing league fixtures as the men.

Masha is also exploring the possibility of a women's veterans league and cup competition being set up in the county and will raise it at this week's Sussex Hockey Association annual general meeting. Amanda Collier will captain and manage the BHHC women's vets team (for over 40s) next season and eligible players will be drawn from any of the 8 league sides when fixtures - either competitive or friendly - are scheduled.
