BHHC ran its second annual Hockey Stars Spring Sessions programme in April and May, and again it proved popular and was a great success. Over 30 girls and boys from 10 different primary schools in Brighton & Hove took part, two thirds of whom had not played hockey before.

Brighton & Hove Hockey Stars is an initiative with the aim of making field hockey available to young children in school years 3-6, primarily from the city's state schools, who may not have had the opportunity to play or access the sport otherwise. The programme runs hour-long weekday sessions over five weeks at Blatchington Mill School, with all abilities welcome. At the end of the sessions there were also some awards. The programme is sponsored by Morgan Sindall Construction.
As part of the sessions each child received a playing shirt and a hockey stick. The total cost per child for all of the five sessions was £10, and if the child were subsequently to join Brighton & Hove Hockey Club, then that £10 can be used as part payment towards junior membership.
Thanks go to all those involved.
