Brighton has the most players from one club across the age groups

This season sees a record number of Brighton & Hove Hockey Club Women's Masters represented in the South East regional tournaments.

Alison Wheatley reports: "Last year only five Over-35s players represented the Masters South East but this year we have jumped to 13 across the age groups. It's fantastic that more of the Over-35 players are coming forward and its been lovely to see so many Brighton faces at the recent training sessions and pre-tournament practice matches.

Brighton now has the most players from one club across the age groups, which is a great advert for BHHC and should be celebrated. This season also sees Wendy Russell sharing her expertise and wisdom as the Over-55s coach. There are plenty of roles you can get involved with including managing, coaching and umpiring (and you don't have to be Over-35 to do this!).

I've managed the Over-55s for three sessions now and it's wonderful to be involved in the whole process and watching the squads evolve and prepare for the regional tournament. The tournament weekends are just amazing; playing hockey with and against your own age group is a unique experience. There's always friendly rivalry between the eight regions but above all, the weekends are full-on hockey mixed with bags of fun and laughter.

The regional tournaments are being hosted by the South this year - hopefully with a new clubhouse, BHHC can look to host an age group next time the tournaments are down South again."

Congratulations and the best of luck to all BHHC players in their upcoming regional tournaments (they are pictured in the photo gallery):
