When Karen Edwards celebrated a ‘significant’ birthday on May 27 among the many messages from wellwishers she received was one from an international star.

Sarah Evans, the Great Britain midfielder and captain of Investec League champions Surbiton, sent a video message for Karen’s 60th birthday, thanking her for all the work she has done in encouraging the girls and women at Brighton and Hove Hockey Club.

Karen was the founder of the club’s women section over 40 years ago. She continues to play and sit on the club committee as Girls Club Captain.
