Brighton and Hove Flippers sit proudly on top of the Sussex Boys Development League after maintaining their seven-match winning run with a 6-0 win over Eastbourne Kestrels on Saturday.

"Despite torrential rain the boys showed solid form and depth of character to maintain high performance throughout the game," reports Nick Bennett. "After half time the Flippers were 1-0 up in a fairly even game. The boys maintained a good work rate in second half despite the conditions which started to open up the defence and set them apart from Eastbourne. The final result was 6-0. Goals came from five players, showing the depth and range of the midfield and forwards.

"The under-16 team had another outing on Sunday in the South East Counties Junior League. The standard of opposition from Marden Russets gave the boys a testing time. Brighton created many chances on goal from working the ball forward, quick counter attacks and short corners. The clinical finishing was missing and the team lost 3-1 at the final whistle. This is the third game in the league and the team still sits third on goal difference."
