3. Training Schedule 2022 / 23 Season

On this page we have set out details for the juniors training schedule for the season. It also includes details of the training for junior goalkeepers.

The training schedule for juniors from Sept 2021 to April 2022 is attached as a download to this page.

All our training sessions are led by qualified coaches supported by senior players and volunteer managers from the Club.

Training is scheduled for Sunday morning (for U6s – U9s) and weekday evenings (for U10s and above). Each training group will have a nominated lead coach and supporting coaches. All training takes place during Blatchington Mill School term dates. The hockey season starts in September and finishes in April.

As all training is out-doors it may be necessary to cancel at short notice due to adverse weather conditions. The club officials will try to give as much notice as possible and communicate via Pitchero and Team WhatsApp groups.

All of the training is mainly organised by age group and so players and parents should note:

  • All juniors should only attend their age group/allocated training. Attending other group training sessions will NOT be permitted unless parent/junior player has been informed by one of the Club Managers AND junior player has been allocated to relevant training schedule.
  • Preparation for Transition (P4T) performance training on Wednesday evenings is by invitation only parent/junior player will been informed by the Club Manager to attend the P4T AND junior player has been allocated to the relevant P4T training schedule.
  • Junior players/parents must follow all safety procedures at the pitches. Parents of U6s-U12s must stay on the Blatchington Mill site for the duration of the training. Players/Parents should not arrive for training more than 10mins before the start of the session AND it is important that players do not arrive more than 5 mins after the training start time –lead coaches are allowed to refuse a player to participate if late arrival causes disruption to the planned training session.
  • Training kitFor all juniors it is a requirement to wear a mouth-guard and shin-pads. BHHC cannot accept responsibility for injuries resulting from not wearing them. We have spare sticks that we can lend to new joiners from U12 groups during training sessions. All juniors should wear sports kit and should take into account weather conditions (i.e. water-proofs, gloves/beanie hats for wet / cold conditions). Layers of kit are recommended. Additionally good trainers for astro-turf surface.NB: We strongly recommend that juniors do NOT wear county kit to training or matches.A full bottle of water is also recommended (parents may want to bring along a hot drink on cold weekday evenings or Sunday mornings !)Any questions or clarifications, then please do not hesitate to contact:[list]
