"discussions around who had purchased the newest Nimbus 3000…except Jamie who insists on his 18th century Cinderella model"
Brighton Men’s 3rd XI turned out for their first friendly (competitive) game of the season. The location…Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The majority of the team assembled at Eridge Road, Platform 9 and ¾ to take the Hogwarts express. As this was our first game back there were discussions around who had purchased the newest Nimbus 3000…except Jamie who insists on his 18th century Cinderella model. We made our way eventually being joined by a few of the team in their flying cars (the only way to avoid the traffic in Worthing apparently).
Upon arrival and pre-warm up we marvelled at the impeccable pitch and flashy dugouts, were also distracted by the fact that all boarding students walking around were wearing bright yellow, knee high socks with capes…show offs.
It was the usual first game back teething problem with miss-controlling of the quaffle, over use of the bludgers and the Seekers going missing. However, after around 30 mins or so we seemed to settle in quite nicely.
After a great move up the left Brighton worked the ball nicely into the D from the side line and Jamie was there to finish the move with a trademark 2-yard finish.
Our second goal came from a short corner (our only shortie of the game) won by new recruit Andrew Bromley. Richard Willmott stepped up and drag flicked it into the bottom corner with the keeper not moving.
Overall some really positive plays and a good result against a team who will certainly be in the top half of the table in the coming season.
