BHHC members invited to help raise funds for Help for Heroes in 12-hour challenge

It gives us a chance to do something worthwhile for others and together as part of the hockey community

Crowborough Hockey Club are staging a 12-hour 'Hockeython' this summer, with money raised from participation and sponsorship going directly to the Help for Heroes charity, and are looking for clubs including Brighton and Hove to join in the fun.

The 'Hockeython' will be held on Saturday July 13 from 8am to 8pm at Beacon and will feature games involving girls and boys, women and men. The ball will be kept live continuously for 12 hours.

This fits with the Hockey for Heroes Nepal record attempt game and Crowborough HC would like to raise funds for the charity after seeing this group at work at the recent Euro Club Trophy. "It gives us a chance to do something worthwhile for others and together as part of the hockey community," says the club.

The 'Hockeython' is scheduled on a range of hours, including a three-hour Mixed Hard Core Challenge at the end.

Crowborough are reaching out to other clubs to play alongside them in their challenge of choice or as an opposition team. They are appealing particularly for four players to help form a combined side of under-10 and under-12 girls and for an adult men's side to provide opposition to the hosts in the 2pm slot.

"We would also love players from other clubs to join us in the family and friends (kids welcome) and past and present hours - and for those after a challenge we still have half a dozen slots in the three-hour endurance challenge from 5-8pm," say the organisers.

East Grinstead have provided the opposition for the Under-10 and Under-12 segment and Lewes are bringing their development sides so that slot is also full.
