BHHC - Relay Canceled

We are sorry to say but due to reasons out of our control we have had to cancel the 100 relay BUT do not panic that you will have nothing to do on Sunday 3rd May because the boules competition run by Graham and BBQ will still happen plus don't forget the live band for the evening. So please support the club and come along.

BHHC - Relay 2009 legs for 2009

The relay is back ’ but don’t panic this time round we are only running 100 metres legs not ones that are a mile long. We thought that we should do 2009 legs as 2009 is the year we are going to begin building our pitches and club house. However it means that we need lots of people to turn up and run legs of 100m AND more importantly we need everyone to try and raise some money.

We’re planning a full day of fun to run alongside the relay. Date ’ Sunday 3rd May 2009, all day. There will be a boules competition run by Graham, with a BBQ, and in the evening a live band.

For those of you new to this here is what we do: we start early in the morning and we keep going until 2009 lots of 100m have been run and just like a proper relay we pass round a baton (which for a hockey club has to be a hockey stick!) We start the clock going when the first runner begins and we stop it as the last runner crosses the line.

To raise money we hold a competition (not a sponsorship event). People pay ’1 to guess how long the race will take from start to finish. All members of the club can help with the money raising you do not have to be running to raise money (in fact if everyone asks just 10 people we can raise over ’3000). Please collect your money raising form from your captain or from Graham behind the bar or download by clicking here and if you can run as well then please sign up on the form in the clubhouse or email Shorrocks@ricsonline.org with your name, team and whether you would prefer to run in the morning, afternoon or evening.

Mens Cup Finals !

Yes, it's that time again when we are in competition for silverware ! Next weekend, 3 of the Mens teams are involved.

On Saturday, the once unbeaten Mens 2s, are playing Eastbourne in a quest to complete the second part of their treble bid. Having recently been crowned champions of South Open Premier League - Division 2, they will be looking to add to the trophy by winning the Sussex Mens 2XI cup before their big day in Guildford in the HA 2XI Trophy final.

The 2s game starts at 3pm.

Before the game at 10:30am, the Super 4s (not so super with Thompo and Wappy) will be playing Horsham in the final of the 4XI Cup. The 4s will be looking to complete the double, having been crowned champions of Sussex Open Division One, achieved with no defeats and a goal difference of 96 !! So why not get down to Eastbourne for the 4s game, have a few cheeky beers after, hopefully in celebration of a great win by the 4s, and then you will be ready to watch the 2s play some great hockey and also watch Hore look village.

On Sunday, the 1s play Chichester in the final of the 1XI cup final. Although Chichester spent most of the season challenging for promotion and the 1s cheekily involved themselves in a relegation dog fight for most of the season, before pulling away from danger in style, when the 2 sides met back in March, the 1s were denied all the points by a last minute equaliser, so it should be a good entertaining game.

The game starts at 2:30pm against at Eastbourne.

Eastbourne HC can be found from this link : http://www.eastbournehc.co.uk/new%20site/pages/findus.html

Please make every effort to come along and support at least one of the games, if not all of them ! Part of the reason we have such a fantastic club is the support we give each other within the club.

The club is holding an EGM

The club is holding an EGM on Saturday 28th February at 6.30pm.

This is to update everyone on our funding application for our pitches and clubhouse; make a change to the constitution to allow us to apply for alternative funding; and allow everyone to vote on some proposed changes to our plans. It is vital that if you want your say you attend. If we do not have enough people for a quorum the club will not be able to go ahead with its plans. Please make every effort to attend.

Plus to lighten the proceedings we are planning a bit of fun to help increase our pitch funds. We are going to try and

‘Block the Barman In’

From midday onwards we want everyone who visits the club (including our oppositions) to bring one or more coins of any denomination. We are going to attempt to stack the coins up in front of Graham until he is completely blocked in (well apart from a small window for serving beer of course!) See posters in the club for further information.

Quiz Night
