Your Help is Needed !
Volunteers are always needed to carry out various tasks/jobs associated with keeping the club up and running.
Currently we have a great band of people who work very hard to make hockey happen each Saturday.
However with the addition of the various activities related to the fundraising for the new pitches, it is a great time for you to volunteer some of your time.
Whether you can spare only a few hours or enough time to do a regular job within the club, now is the time to get involved.
All the club officers are very supportive of the people who help run the club, so don’t worry you won’t be thrown in at the deep end!!
If you can spare some time please contact either Wendy (Ladies Club Captain) or Thompo (Men’s Club Captain)

Tour to PJK - Holland
BHHC tour to PJK in Holland on 8th-10th June 2007. Last year was a big success even though we struggled for numbers. This year is going to be better organised and already looking to be popular with several people already paying deposits. The cost of this years tour should be £200 and the aim is to get 30 people coming so this will cover everything, including all food and drink for Saturday and Sunday.
This year we will be asking for a deposit of £50 a.s.a.p to book your place. The remaining balance will need to be paid by end of May and if it suits, you can pay in £50 monthly instalments.
This is an awesome tour (just ask anyone who has been) and well worth the money. In return for your £200 you will receive coach & ferry to and from Holland, food and copious amounts of drink, playing & evening kit, and entrance fee.
If you require more information or are interested in coming along please contact Luke Williams or your team captain.

New Pitches Update
Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to build up the Astro Fund this season, we have made significant progress towards our goal but we are now at a critical stage in our fundraising which means the next 6 weeks is the most important in the history of BHHC.
Our main potential source of funding is an organisation called the National Sports Foundation (NSF). This is a government funded panel which matches pledges from companies and individuals but at present this fund may close to new applications after the end of June. This means 2 things for our project:
1) We need to prepare our application now, the NSF represents our best chance of raising the money we need.
2) As the NSF matches the money raised from other sources, the more money we have pledged, the more money we can raise from the NSF. Every £1 raised by us means we are £2 closer to a new pitch.
Get this right and work will start at Cardinal Newman before Christmas, get this wrong and we are playing at Deason in the wind and the rain for years to come.
So what do we want you to do;
1) Make sure you send in the money that you've raised or pledged already - if you have any money for the One Mile Relay, Speculate or Race Night that you haven't sent in please send it to Graham Edwards at 5 Canterbury Road, Worthing, BN13 1AQ asap. Cheques should be made payable to BHHC. If you won one of auctions at the Dinner Dance please see below about how you can now pledge your money (so we can increase our NSF submission).
2) Pledge a donation - If you've been thinking about donating to the Astro Fund but haven't yet now is the time to show the colour of your money. We don't need cash straight away, we need you to fill out the pledge form attached and post it to Ramzy Omran at 109 Loder Road, Brighton, BN1 6PN by the 15th June. The NSF will only match pledges not money already collected so don't send cash or cheques yet. Donating now means the club can double your money, donating later means we can't.
Download the pledge a donation form >
3) Let us know who we can contact in your organisation. The club will be asking local companies for donations but this will be far more effective if we have the name of the person who holds the purse strings. Please e-mail Myles Ford at mylesford@btinternet.com or Tim Ireland at tpireland@googlemail.com if you have contact name, address or number or if you are willing to talk to someone in your organisation.
Your club needs you, and now is the time to make one last push. A new pitch, new changing rooms and a warm, comfortable bar in a central location or Deason and Preston Park, the choice is yours.

Two out of Three Ain't Bad !!
BHHC sides competed in three cup finals over last weekend, with success in two of them.
The Mens 1s after a slow start beat a determined Worthing side 9-0 in Craig's last game as coach. Craig bowed out with a double hat-trick. Classic quote from the Argus, "Brighton's singing supporters belted out 'Caravan of Love' everytime Carolan scored, by half time the record was stuck !"
The Ladies 1s defeated Eastbourne in a thrilling penalty flick contest after the game finished 2-2 in normal time.
The Mens 4s didn't get going until the 15 minute mark. Unfortunately 3 goals in the previous 10 minutes made it a bit of an uphill struggle. Although they had their chances, it wasn't to be their day. Lewes eventually running out 5-1 winners with 2 late goals.
All three teams would like to thank the supporters who made the effort to come and watch. Certainly makes these finals days to remember !
