Horsham 4 1-1 Men's 6th XI

Scorer: Ollie 'Mork' Arkaah

The Mighty 6's travelled to Horsham looking to get back into form after a pre-Christmas slump, with an almost full strength line up. Simon Hawkes and Paul Ripsher playing their first 6's games of the season.

The match started with a short period of Horsham pressure but the Horsham forwards getting short change from the Brighton back four. However, the game quickly settled into a pattern of open play in midfield rarely penetrating either of 2 strong defences. Paul and Wolfie forming a solid central partnership for the away side and the Horsham wingers unable to get behind Myles and Sam at full back.

Despite wasting several good opportunities, set plays looked the most likely route to a goal for both sides. Howie produced a fine save from a Horsham short before Brighton took the lead. Simon's short corner strike was parried by the home goalkeeper but finally pushed across the line by Mork after a lengthy scramble on the goal line.

Brighton were just about taking control of the game when a misjudged kick by Howie went straight to the Horsham centre forward who equalised from a narrow angle.

Both sides came out of the half time break looking to attack, but it was clear that both sides were stronger in defence than going forward. Brighton took the lions share of possession, Sam, Wolfie and Myles combining well for a number of quick 16's and transfers, Mork, Mindy and Simon adding pace up front. Despite this, Brighton rarely tested the Horsham keeper and the home team wasted several good situations with poor final passes.

The game therefore finished in a well deserved draw. Horsham proving to be friendly and sporting opposition for both of this seasons contests.
