Horsham 1-3 Men's Veterans XI

In our last game before Xmas we played like stuffed turkeys but refreshed by a couple of weeks of festive spirit(s), a revitalised Brighton ran out easy winners.
From our first short corner, poacher Scrivens was on hand to tuck away the opening goal but Horsham responded immediately and despite guest goalie Andy Hehir saving the initial shot, the ball was forced home for 1-1.
Despite this setback, Brighton continued to take the game to Horsham and were ahead within minutes, Adrian Adams swivelling and firing home.
A reshuffled defence of Cameron Heath, Guy Nelson, Hamish vans Agnew and Steve Mooney dealt comfortably with the Horsham attack and with James Alexander in full flow down the right, Brighton were a constant threat. Steve Tinson glanced home the third goal from a fine pull back from Richard Barnes, atoning for missing a sitter in the first half.
This was a solid start to 2006 despite missing several regulars and bodes well for the rest of the season. Special thanks due to Henry Nelson for umpiring at short notice.
