Worthing Llamas 2-2 Junior Gulls XI

The pressure was on from the start. With Christmas shopping having made it's mark and Hannah and Georgia making yet another starring performance for the 5s (will we ever see them again now their talents have been on show to the higher teams?) we set off for the wilds of Worthing with only 10 valiant players (actually we set off from Brighton with only 9 real bodies as we were relying on Super Sophie joining us there).

Despite our depleted numbers we breathed a sigh of relief, when on our way to the pitch we encountered a Worthing parent with two junior players looking for directions - we always fancy our chances against first-timers, now being veterans of more than 4 matches each! The teams were fairly well matched, with Alex and Beth making some fantastic passing moves through the middle to keep the opposition on their toes and the opposition keeping Fi and Gabby hard at work marking their centre forward. The long and short of the hockey is .... WE SCORED TWO SHORT CORNERS! Fancy that. They scored two goals, it was a draw. Alex tricked the opposition with a couple of dribblers into the left hand corner and Worthing tricked Fi by running really fast.

The teas were great with the girls eating their own body weight in Penguins and crisps.

An unusual event in the Gulls' continued hockey career; no hospitalisation, no ambulances, no getting lost, no getting thrashed. Just a simple draw. Well done everyone.

Here's to 4.30 at EG next week. Bring on the water-based pitch.
