Maidstone 2-3 Men's 2nd XI
BHHC Men's 2XI continued a string of victories against Maidstone and have now not lost a game in over a month. The side settled extremely well this week and the presence of Ben Butlin in his second outing with the side proved to be a great addition. Brighton began with some strong attacks which soon resulted in a beautifully executed shot by Kenny Rogers, following some silky skills around 2 of Maidstone's defence together with great pace.
Despite dominating the game, Brighton conceded an equalizer, allowing Maidstone to get back in the game. Despite a string of efforts and some great possession hockey by Brighton, half-time arrived with the game still at 1-1.
The second half initally witnessed further aggressive attacks by Brighton, with Kenny Rogers producing another goal from a tight angle. This was followed by some typical fast hands on the arms of John Child who challenged Kenny's previous goal by scoring from an even tighter degree!
At 3-1 up, Brighton's dominance in the game was certainly beginning to show. However, there soon followed some complacency which saw Maidstone pull back to 3-2 with a very well finished team effort. Brighton pulled out all the stops to hold on to a well-earned lead and had to battle against a well structured Maidstone who continued to push for another equalizer right up until the final whistle, but not quite making the grade.
Brighton therefore continue to show their force in the league and very much look forward their game against Eastbourne next week-end.
