Old Williamsonians 2s 5-2 Men's 2nd XI
Goalscorers: Kenneth Rogers, Jamie Hendrix
Brighton started extremely well but were unfortunate to give away a penalty flick during a short corner when Phil Gardner blocked an excellent flick with his leg rather than his stick. Brighton followed with a well worked short corner routine with Kenny Rogers grabbing the first home team goal. Brighton went on to take the lead with some hard press attacking and well-controlled passing in the oppostion D. However, Old Williamsonians proved to be a resilient side and soon pulled back to 2-2 with a very well struck shot by one of last season's Holcombe 1XI side.
Old Williamsonians went on to dominate the goal scoring, feeding much of the ball down the centre of the park to the striker who was clearly their best player by some way. He made tough work for the Brighton defence which resulted in what was ultimately a disappointing start to the league for Brighton.
However, with some dedicated coaching on board for the Men's 2s, Brighton hope to get right back into the league by taking a win away at Lewes on the 7th of the month.
