Southwick 3s 2-8 Men's 5th XI

This game followed Brighton 5s first defeat of the season, as such they were keen to have a go from the start. As early as the second minute Bondy passed to Benson in the D, who calmly slotted the ball home.

Brighton then seemed to have all the possession. In the 6th minute Bondy passed to the right, Ramzy then sent the ball down the line to Aidy who roasted two players before sending a pass to Ramzy unmarked on the P spot and the skipper slotted the ball to the keepers left hand side. On the 8th minute Bondy was once again commanding the midfield and this time he passed to Aidy in the D who smashed the ball through the keeper, score was 3-0, 8 minutes gone.

On 15 minutes the half turned around when Dan 'the Engine' Benson who was playing his first game in the middle of the pitch had to be
substituted following an injury. He was replaced by Birdy who arrived late from a covert mission.

Brighton then seemed to soak up a lot of pressure and conceded a goal on 20 minutes. Brighton then went straight on the attack, Bondy was brought down and went for a quick pass, but was blown up for apparentely using the back of his stick (who on earth or in space would play a free hit with the back of their stick? answers to a v.angry Bondy). What followed was a heated conversation with the umpire which led to Bondy
spending the next 14 minutes on the sidelines, the day after mocking Myles for getting sent off.

With both the Engine and Bondy out of the middle, Brighton rejigged with Swampy and Farthing making the middle there own and with Ed moving to Sweeper.

There was then a sustained spell of pressure from Southwick, but a breakaway from Brighton led to a save from the Southwick keeper, however, an infringement had been spotted and Brighton were award a P flick. Aidy coolly slotted the ball to the keeper's left. HT Brighton 4 - Southwick 1.

The second half started with both Bondy and Benson returning to the middle and Brighton were able to control the game more. Brighton were
shooting and winning short corners but just could not slot the ball home, it was as if the Southwick goal had an invisible shield, or Batfinkin goal.

Brightons continued attacking led to a few Southwick breakaways, however the defence managed to keep the attackers at bay until the 22nd minute when Southwick scored a second. With College shouting, "I've got 3 here, you need to get back."

However on 24 minutes a mix up/practised routine in a Brighton short corner resulted in the ball falling to Dan Benson who calmly scored his second of the game.

Four minutes later Ramzy scored from the top of the D as his push shot defied the odds, physics and the keeper to just hit the back board.

The scoring was not over as Bondy passed the ball
wide right to Ed who crossed for Aidy's hatrick and then a minute later Aidy picked up a pass
from Bondy to make it 4.

A good result after last week's game however the 5's know they will need to up their game for next week's match with Penguins. A mention should
go to young Kirk who played the first half and showed some good touches on his debut.

The 5th team stalwarts then hit the bar for the curry night
