Crawley 2s 2-4 Men's 5th XI

This was the game that Brighton 5s went international with new players making there club debut from Poland and France and Auke (from Holland) makings his 5s debut.

Crawley started well and after 9 minutes they took the lead when College passed the ball to the centre forward from a 16, there was nothing that Pavel could do as the ball hit the backboard. It took time for Brighton to get into the game with Crawley taking the game to them, there was some good last ditch defending by Brighton. However all over the pitch Brighton were giving the ball away needlessly. After 20 minutes or so Brighton seemed to find there feet and started to apply pressure, there was some neat interplay between Tosh and Bondy which led to Bondy passing the ball to Tosh at the top of the D who simply hit it into the goal with the Crawley keeper unsighted. 1-1 at half time.

At the start of the second half the Brighton defence was in shambles as Crawley scored within 30 seconds when a defender on the left hand side appealed which was not given and this left 3 Crawley players against one Brighton defender and the keeper, again another simple goal conceded.

The rest of the half seemed to be Brighton applying pressure, with Brighton missing some chances the best of which fell to Tom R, however he equalised for Brighton when he diverted a Bondy hit over the keeper. Bondy was then on hand to score from a short corner.

With 10 minutes to go Tosh picked up the ball from a Crawley 16 and passed to Tom R who audaciously lobbed the keeper for his second and Brighton's 4th.

At Crawley pushback Auke could be heard to say we just need to relax and not give the ball away, however he gave the ball away and Crawley managed to force a short corner, which Crawley nearly got a shot on goal from as they switched it sweetly. Crawley now had the bit between their teeth an as they attacked down the right and got a cross the defender was forced to hit the ball behind for a short corner with the centre forward breathing down his neck.

Brighton learnt from the previous short corner and Ramzy knocked the ball away as it was switched to the right, however the striker still swung and connected with his leg, 16 given, but player had to be replaced.

Crawley then had two more short corners before the final whistle, both of which Brighton defended well.
