Chi 3's 2-6 Ladies' 4th XI
Scorers: Laura Nicoll X 3, Quita Harkess, Kate Burton and Karen Moore
Once more on a fresh Saturday morning we meet again, hoping that no one is sick today, though not quite as lucky, at least we have 11. We face Chi again after playing them in the 1st round of the Vase, 2 weeks ago, winning 2-1. We had to do the same if not better.
Again our history with umpires is fun….we had a last min change that no one thought to advise us of and worried our captain needlessly!
The game got off to a good start; we went out fighting to prove that we were better than the last game we played???? We got an early goal from Laura from a cross, that the keeper decided to let past! Some terrific teamwork with good passing were rewarded and was followed up quickly by another goal from Laura on a rebound. Our spirits high we regrettably let one in, a sneaky goal from Chi. We finished the first half 2-1 up, with a quick warning from the umpires about our tackling…(had anyone told us that we were not allowed to make shoddy tackles from the wrong side before?? I think not!)
The second half and with the sun behind we kept up the pace. A long pass up the pitch past all the opposition was picked up by Quita, a great strike from the top of the D saw its way past the keeper. Chi were not happy, and picked up their pace and managed to get a goal back. But we were not finished yet. Another great pass up the pitch and this time Kate got to it and again finished it off with an excellent goal from the top of the D. We continued to dominate the rest of the game and were rewarded with two more goals, one from Karen, struck from the top of the D and the last from Laura, making hers a hatrick this weekend.
Well done everyone! That win takes us nicely into 6th place in the league.
