Eastcote 1-2 Men's 2nd XI

Brighton and Hove 2 Eastcote 1

Brighton travelled away to this tricky fixture again, fielding a strong team, with the additions of Andy Acott and V.T bolstering their already talented team. Luke Williams made his point clear prior to the match by stating how the opposition had scored 24 and conceded 24 prior to our visit. Meanwhile poor Lloyd was not in a good way, having spent the whole night previously on the toilet.

The match got underway at a frantic pace, however on a very slippery pitch many Brighton players struggled to keep their footing. This was epitomised when Ollie no where near anyone, went to chase the ball down and randomly stacked it, making everyone on the pitch laugh. After a nervy first ten minutes Brighton started to take control of the match with Jamie Hendrix linking the midfield to the forwards and getting the forwards of Andy and Ollie in the game. It seemed to be only a matter of time until Brighton scored and this proved to be true, as from a short corner, V.T popped home a drag flick; seemingly sending the keeper the wrong way. Brighton were firmly on top at this point with the defence of Dan Hacking, Dan Hore, Luke and Dermot looking comfortable in thwarting any opposition attacks.

Brighton soon went two up when attacking in the D the opposition defender failed to clear the ball and Jamie, found himself in acres of space to powerfully shoot home. At two nil down Eastcote upped their game and pulled one back through a short corner which took a deflection off of Dan Hore to beat keeper Dave, who except for that moment seemed comfortable in dealing with anything thrown at him.

The second half produced no goals somehow, despite Brighton coming very close on a number of occasions, with close misses from Ross, Andy and Lloyd. Later in the half Lloyd was forced off due to his deteriorating state, as he then left his mark at Eastcote. Comedy moment of the match came where after the umpires pointing in different directions, both teams where keenly contesting what who should have the free hit. The hit rightly went Brighton’s way only for Hacking to immediately loft the ball into Hore’s leg from a meter away and giving the opposition the ball.

All in all it was a hard fought three points to Brighton, and as far as I can remember it was a good night out after celebrating their success. Next week Brighton host Trojans who are bottom of the league in the hope they can keep their winning streak going.
