Worthing 5 0-4 Men's 6th XI
Scorers: Ollie Arkaah, Kurt Kackhand, Josh Davey, Sam Parkin
Brighton starting with a very youthful looking line up against bottom of the table Worthing. With Martin unavailable & Dipak carrying an injury, Will was forced into the back 4 and Howie slotted into midfield.
The game very quickly settled into a pattern of Brighton dominating posession and Worthing stuggling to clear their own half. For the first time this season, Brighton opened the scoring when good work from Hendo and Sam Parkin set up Ollie for a typical close range finish. This was quickly followed by a second when Myles' long corner was met by Kurt, who got in front of the keeper to glance the ball in and put Brighton 2-0 up after only 10 minutes.
Brighton continued to dominate despite the odd Worthing attack, fluid passing stretched the visitors defence, Kurt & Howie passing the ball with simple effectiveness, Hendo his usual fast breaking self and Josh consistently beating his man and getting to the by-line. The home side went into the break 3-0 up after Josh scored on the stroke of half time.
Brighton started the second half expecting a hatful of goals, but a deep lying Worthing defence proved difficult to break down. The Sixes responded in the right way, transferring the ball across the back four and attacking from wide areas. With Ollie & Josh both having their best game so far for the 6's, they combined well with Kurt on the left and Myles on the right to set up a series of chances which Worthing dealt with despirate defence.
Brighton scored their fourth with 5 minutes to go when a goalmouth scramble was finally slotted home by Sam Parkin for a debut goal. Despite further pressure, the unseasonal heat finally took its toll and a very sporting game finished 4-0 to Brighton.
