Chichester 6-2 Men's Veterans XI
This was a disappointing result for Brighton who played some attractive, passing hockey. Brighton played the match with three up front with Chris, Rob and for the first time James A given the freedom to roam and run at the defense which he did extremely well.
Brighton however started slowly and quickly went 1-0 down but they were not put off and Rob equalised having played ping pong with the ball off the goalie's pads a couple of times! At half time Chichester lead 2-1.
With Chris playing very high up the field a lot of space was created in midfield and with the full backs pushing up and with the midfield passing the ball well chances were being created.
Chichester however went 3-1 up with a disputed gaol which appeared to hit both the attacker's feet before he scored.
A long ball up the pitch to Chris enabled him to turn past his marker before scoring past the keeper - his first goal for the vets - when he is much fitter I am sure he will pull up his shirt and do a celebratory lap of the pitch!
Chichester scored three more goals which gave an unfair reflection to the match.
Many thanks to Chichester for providing both umpires.
