Southwick 2s 6-2 Men's 5th XI
It what was always going to be a tough game Brighton made a few enforced changes, welcoming James Taylor back and giving first games of the season in the 5s for Mark Stiles, Mark Wingett and Steve "sponsor pays double" Spears.
The first half was a tight affair with Southick nudging it with a deflected shot to the top of the goal. Matt Squires was like a cougar in goal but could not stop that shot.
The second half was not so great we concided an early goal then 3 short corners before Josh scored the goal of the game a reverse hit from the edge of the D after running through Southwick's defence from the 25, he even left two defenders on the floor as they tried to tackle him, and the keeper watched the ball go in as he was unsighted till the last.
Then Southick duely scored a 4th short corner. Before Steve Spears found himself with teh ball in front of goal with the keeper behind him, a classic open goal situation and before tapping it in the clogs spun in Steves brains as this did not compute - the keeper was behind him 6-2 (or is that 6-3 sponsors goals count double???).
A spirited performance but not teh right result, better luck next week.
