Folkestone 1-5 Men's 2nd XI
Brighton played a game of good pace and positive attacks, leaving Folkestone with a heavy defeat at home. With the addition of player-coach Hugh this week-end, Brighton took a strong squad to the game and climbed their way back into the realms of mid-league position.
Following a rather feable first 10 minutes in which Folkestone had as many, if not more, attacks than Brighton, the away side soon got to grips with the match, helped by some positive direction from skipper Phil Gardner at the back and player-coach Hugh Salter at centre-half. Brighton demonstrated some fast play with strong balls right across the pitch. By half-time Brighton were 3-0 up and the half-time talk focused on maintaining the strong lead.
With Jamie Hendrix scoring 4 goals, Brighton continued their strong performance despite a conciliatory goal to Folkestone. A fantastic result a long way from home with some excellent performances from every single player in the side.
Oh, and a special mention goes to Robbie Guthrie for screaming for the ball 3 times in a row and never once receiving it - must have been an awful memory of never have been picked by anyone in games at school.
