Eg 4s 7-1 Men's 4th XI
Well the rosy outlook was short-lived.
We scored first and looked good. Somehow though we were 3-1 down at half-time but, truth be said, we were competing and didn't deserve to be that far behind.
The worst thing happened in the second half and we were quickly 4-1 down and heads dropped. EG got more confident and began to run rampant. Three more goals followed and we were down and out. We never truly gave up though and in hindsight on another day we could have had a few more goals.
Highlights of the day:
The look of relief on Scotty and Tosh's face when they made it out of Brooksy's car in one piece.
Scotty's new stick. He was convinced it was a bit girly we were convinced it was a bit gay.
Scotty scoring with nearly his first touch with his "gay stick"
The new 4th team shout of "GAY STICK!". It has a much better ring to it than "EG!"
College, in trying to gee up the team said the following: "Come on College!!!!!! Oh, er… I mean Brighton…. Well that's not to say College shouldn't be playing better as well." Yours truly had tears of laughter running down his face. (is that your excuse for some more comedy goal keeping? - Ed)
Brooksy letting in the softest goal following an almighty air swipe form the EG player as good as missed the ball. Brooksy was looking for the ball as it dribbled past his foot into the goal.
So as you can see not a complete waste of time.
