10/03/07
Folkestone 3's 1-8 Men's 3rd XI

In history March 10th is now famous for five things:
1) 1910: The first film made in Hollywood ('Old Califormia') released
2) 1969: James Earl Ray found guilty of the murder of Martin Luther King and sentenced to 99 years in jail
3) 1977: Uranus rings discovered

At this point I confess the Men's threes have had nothing to do with the first two on this list, but we have discovered some rings.

4) This date will also be remembered for the day we demolished Folkestone 8-1.

Paul M returned to the team, Matt H joined us and as such the pack was reshuffled again with Bondy moving out of defence and the Silver Fox returning to his favoured left back position. As the game got underway Folkestone started like a team who are bottom of the league, which was only equalled by our very own slow start.

However, when it looked like there was nothing to separate the two teams, Brighton first short corner (The slippery nipple) paid dividends; 1-0 thanks to a rebound from Bondy. Of course once I have scored I tend to forget who else has - sorry. There you go 3-1 at half time in what can only be described as a very pedestrian affair.

Skipper Dan gave a rousing half time team talk and Brighton returned to the field with a bit more zip! 5 great goals followed some neat team interplay (see famous fact 3) with almost all the good work involving the ageless Prucey. 8-1 Full time win.

On returning to the clubhouse the Men's 3XI were greeted with famous fact no 5) A first team hat-trick for Dan Hore in an 8-0 win. Oh yes, they too were playing bottom of the league.

Goals: Begs (3); Prucey (2); Matt Harding (1); Tom Scopes (1) and Bond (1)

Best impression of an opposition goalie jumping a grenade: The opposition goalie

Best goal keeper dropped after an own goal last week: Andy Hehir
