Mid Sussex 3 2-5 Men's 5th XI

Come another Saturday and another change of line up for the 5s, out go the injured Swampy and the holidaying Dickie Barnes and in step the youngsters Joe Wells and Tom Bucknall. With Swampy absent the defence once again had to be shuffled, with Ramzy stepping into right back, College and Matt in the middle and Jamie at leftback. It is inevitable that the Famous 5s concede an early goal and with a new look defence this was always going to be the case. As inside 2 minutes two Horsham forwards broke away to be in the D with one Brighton defender, they made no mistake.

Again Brighton looked the better side going forward for much of the half, but the makeshift defence was certainly making the game look exciting when Mid Sussex used there long ball game.

Brighton equalised when Tosh was brought down outside the D and he slipped the ball to Bond to slot home.

The first half finished much as it had started with Mid Sussex playing the long ball game, and again getting into the D with two forwards and
only College defending, College appealed for feet, which was rightly not given as it had hit his own feet and advantage was given to Mid Sussex and the goal was scored 2-1 to Mid Sussex at half time.

Brighton pressed to get an equaliser early in the second half, Tosh was brought down on about 30 yards out, Bondy called for a quick ball from
Ramzy, which Bondy then dispatched into the D where Tom Robertson was on hand to divert the ball over the keeper.

The game then turned into a frenzy of Brighton chances, and long ball breakaways from Mid Sussex. With ten minutes to go Brighton were
awarded a short corned which Bond slipped to Birdy to fire home.

Mid Sussex then pressed for an equaliser and were caught off guard when Tom B and Ginger combined with Gingers resulting shot being saved and Tom B clinically firing the ball into the net from the rebound. This did not stop Mid Sussex pressing forward, they had a free hit just
outside Brighton's D which was scrambled away to Ginger on the left who ran from Left to centre taking the ball all the way to Mid Sussex's D to
score in the top corner, a fitting solo goal from the ever hard working Benson.

Brighton won 5-2 with 4 goals from the B squad to take them to top of the league!!
