Horsham 3 1-4 Men's 5th XI
The Famous fives second away game of the season, involved a number of changes with Graham, Andy and Tim dropping out and thus giving the side a
more youthful look! As is the law we also had our 3rd keeper in as many league games. Also into the team after a reconnaissance mission overseas was Birdman who made his season debut for the 5s.
The game started at 100 miles an hour with College charging down the wing. Inside two minutes Bondy picked the ball on the 25 passed to
Ramzy in acres of space who crossed for the Birdman to guide the ball home with his first touch. With Brighton pressing for a second the
inevitable goal on 10 minutes was scored by Horsham, a quickly taken free hit outside the D, left two forwards and the Brighton keeper in the
D, they switched the ball with Alex going one way and the ball the other.
With 23 minutes gone the most bizarre of events took place, Matt Sale finally opened his goal account for the club after a 6 year wait ! College received the ball in a wide position crossed into a melee of players the ball
somehow got through to Matt who had his first effort saved however he was able to follow up and take the ball over the line. This was
followed minutes later with the miss of the season, Ginger crossed the ball into behind the keeper to Tom half a yard out in the middle of the goal who managed top steer it wide of the right hand post. Minutes later Tom made amends when Tosh picked up the ball from a Horsham 16 and slipped the ball through to Tom who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net.
The second half started much the same as the first with Brighton in commanding form, on 45 minutes Brighton won a short corner which Bondy
slammed against the back board. This seemed to lead to a Horsham revival as Brighton then soaked up 15 minutes of pressure, Jamie was
commanding at left back at one point driving the ball out of the D with confidence. The last ten minutes saw Brighton again applying the
pressure but had no luck in scoring a 5th goal.
