Mid Sussex 1s 0-2 Ladies' 2nd XI
Dull, predictable, snooze inducing.None of these words could be used to describe the Ladies 2s match against Mid Sussex 1s. The week leading up to the game had been challenging - with a mix of injuries and skiing holidays reducing the team to slimline dimensions. Rachel and Sophie were recruited and both fitted into the finely tuned chaos very well.
The Captain set a new PB by winning the toss (Heads) for the 5th game in a row, and so we started the game with 10 players, and a goalie on the A23. Gold Star to Sophie for commitment and a new world record time for a GK getting kitted up. First half highlights:Cressy and Gina had several good attempts on goal, Sophie made a super slo-mo stretch to JUST keep the ball out, and Tara had a bit of bother with the hole in the pitch on the P Corner push out spot. Jackie Evans appeared in the role as Guest Star Supporter - thanks J.
Second Half : Gina and Cressy continued to make chances, we had more shorties, and Cressy scored a cracker from the edge of the D. Phew. Donna got a yellow card and went for a 10 minute breather. Fine-able offence. Back down to 10. Kate and Tara ran their legs off in midfield. Rachel played well and her shot on goal led to a P Flick - converted by ice cool Tara. The umpire kept the ball in play for Mid Sussex with a Ronaldo-esque back heel - awesome. Hannah, Donna, Jac and Lyric continued their excellent teamwork in defence. Final score 2-0.
Thanks everyone for making it work with just 11 - especially those who had a very tough week, should really have been in their sickbeds, but turned up and played anyway. :)
