South Saxons 3-4 Men's 5th XI

The second game of the season saw the 5s shuffle their pack, out go Swampy, Jamie, Dickie and Riggers and in comes the ginger one and the three wise men (Terry, Tim and Graham). As would be expected without Swampy in the side the game produced no whinging, but plenty of goals, 7!

The game started well for Brighton with some nice link work between Tosh and Dan, but with 10 minutes on the clock the 5s were hit by a classic counter attack, with Matt making a desperate last ditch tackle which saw him leave the pitch injured with score 5s 0, Saxons 1. This led to Ramzy moving to rightback and Ed to centre back.

Brighton continued to attack, following a SS attack, Brighton broke away with a trademark Ramzy run which led to a pass to Graeme at the top of the D who brought an amazing save from the keeper, however Bondy flicked in from centre of the goal. Two minutes later a similar run led to short corner when Ramzy was brought done on the edge of the D, the short corner confused Brighton so much that the opposition did not expect the Ginger one to score.

The second half started much the same as the first had ended with Bondy picking up another goal when he shot from the right after the goalie had saved Tim's shot.

At this stage Brighton seemed to take their foot off the pedal as they began to let SS back into the game, a couple of quick breakaways led to couple of short corners the last of which SS dispatched into the goal. With SS pushing for an equaliser Brighton broke away down the left, a
quick one two between Bondy and Ireland left Dan in plenty of space to deftly flick home for his second.

Brighton then tried to slow the game down passing the ball and heading for the corners, and trying to keep SS away from their D as we knew how dangerous they could be from shorts, unfortunately another short corner was given away and the ball smashed passed GB's disparing arm, final score 4-3.
