Match Reports

15/10/05
Worthing Llamas 0-1 Junior Gulls XI

OK so technically this was a 6s game, but I'm claiming it on behalf of the Gulls so here is the match report.

First shock - noone got lost on the way. Things are definitely looking up. However, things are never perfect as our umpiring system crumbled. Luckily Neil valiantly stepped into the breach and did a fantastic job controlling the huge number of stick tackles, tackling from behind, kicking (the ball), third party and general misdemeanors. Despite a strong, young opposition aided by some experienced players Brighton were the better team, and won with a narrow 1-0 scoreline. Again another storming performance by Hannah, and an excellent inagural appearance in defence by Beth with creative instruction from Alex behind her. I'm not exactly sure who got the last touch on the ball into the goal, though I think it was shared by Zoe and Elaine.

For those of us who had by now become used to the excitement that generally follows our games this was a little uneventful. No ambulances, no hospitalisation, no blood, no fighting, just a really enjoyable game of hockey. Thanks everyone, in particular to Elaine, Hilary and Hayley for joining us for the week and giving a little structure to the side (thanks to Alex for all of that as usual).
