Herne Bay 2's 2-3 Men's 3rd XI
Ouch, that's got to hurt!
Scorer's Grimesy, Begs, Prucey
Herne Bay proved a good test for the mighty 3's and in fairness our cause was helped by picking off the odd HB player (not intentionally of course). Herne Bay were going well in second place in the league and we knew it would be a tough contest. As luck would have it we had our strongest side of the season Prucey, Dave Delea and Hacking back... nice touch!
Great first 10 minutes as we started uncharacteristically well. Grimesy put us a head with a well worked variation of the Simpson special short corner, with Begs cunningly dummying the pull back for Grimesy to finish off (Yes, I know Ed let it go!!)
Bay went 2-1 up and helped by a few injuries our dominance was reasserted. Begs converted a penalty flick to take it to 2-2 with only 5 minutes to go. Then Prucey; (not best pleased with the swampster's lack of protection) got angry and didn't stop till the ball was in the back of the net.
It's a long drive home to the back of Kent when you are carrying knocks and have just had the points grabbed from you - ouch!
