Sevenoaks 3's 1-1 Men's 3rd XI

Scorer: Leigh ‘the wobble’ Bond

The thorough breeds of the 3rd’s were engaged in a tough match with top of the league Sevenoaks aided by the much improved Andy Hehir playing a key role in this enthralling 1-1 draw.

The draw was also partly in response to the now ever present 'lucky dynamic stretch' in the warm up (although we didn’t actually do that this week Andy - Ed). The positive and enthusiastic adoption of this from the boys was encouraging and it is destined to be a regular feature for the season (except this week ;-) - Ed). Andy the Hair playing through injury coated in swathes of deep heat, and getting his lucky pre-match massage from the magic Paul ‘Harry Potter’ Ripsher.

The 3's looked off the pace in the first half, struggling against an enthusiastic and aggressive Sevenoaks playing an impressive full court press. Bar a few solo counter attacking runs from Davros. The inspiring half time team talk from the dastardly duo of Simpson and Beglin sent the team out for the second half with concentration in their eyes and fire in their bellies (you sure your not thinking of the Agra later on that evening? - Ed). The effort from the defense with their crisp accurate passing and firm tackling set the team off for a good start. I would also like to add Paul needs to work on his fitness... he run more in 70 minutes than I do in 12 months - that’s far too fit! The opening goal was some what of a freak - a short corner was conceded and a wicked deflection off young Sam’s stick sent the ball into the roof of the left hand side of the net, with the stranded yet spectacularly handsome keeper (hmmm - Ed) going to the bottom right. It didn’t take long from this misfortune for the 3’s to assert their dominance. The ever youthful super wobble Bondy returned the game to all square from another sublime short corner although I have been informed that this was theft from the stick of Thomas Scopes.

Further chances came and went for the 3’s but as time went on it just didn’t seem to be our day (especially as Alan blew the final whistle just before our winning goal passed the goal line - Ed). Plus Scopes of now University Challenge infamy needs to learn more than one trick and even then not do it on the 25 in the dying minutes of the game. Thankfully we will be without his services as he is spending time in buildings in Holland - what type of buildings these are is up for debate!!!!!!! (allegedly AH knows buildings of this type quite well ;-) Ed)

The season is still on course for a good start with this handsome chap sure that the return leg will be an away victory for the ever improving 3rd team.
