M&B 7-2 Men's 5th XI

Bad Day at M & B.

We came, we watched, we left (least said the better).

It was not a good day for Brighton 5s as they crashed to a heavy defeat in their third league game of the season at Bognor.

It all looked good after 12 minutes when Will Selby opened the scoring to put Brighton 1 up. This was to be our only shot of the half on target at the M & B end and with minute to half time Guy Nelson deflected the ball past Peter Stevens in goal, so the sides went in level at half time.

Second half, Brighton looked lively, and when a M & B player received a red card (pole axing Tom Robertson and then back chat), Brighton must have thought there luck was in, however 3 short corners in 5 minutes meant the score was 4-1 to M & B. Unfortunately another OG followed and then an aerial clearance from the M & B half sailed into the Brighton 25 which an unmarked forward picked up and shot past Peter for the sixth. Brighton then rallied for 10 minutes, scoring a second from Tom. But to rub salt into the wound M & B finished off the rout with a goal from the last hit of the game to make the final score 7-2.

A better performance will be required next weekend against top of the table Southwick 2s.
