Chichester Novices 3-1 Junior Gulls XI
Things were looking bad, both regular goalkeepers out (pesky Netball), down to 10 in the morning, but come the afternoon all was well. Billy and Anne Marie stepped into the breach to help us take on the (rather inaccurately named) Chichester Novices. Despite some gallant work by the defence ably marshalled by Alex, we accidently let in 2 goals in the first half. Come the second half we were determined, running to meet every 50-50 ball, pushing the opposition off the ball and not being fooled by the 9 year old. There was no way I was letting her have the ball (well not every time anyway). I think the opposition must be heavy smokers, or at least recreational drug takers as our superior fitness showed during the final 10 minutes. A wild cross from the captain (in all senses of the word) was met by a waiting Ashleigh at the far post to slot in our first goal since Christmas. Woopee. We actually drew the second half. Bring on the 6s next week, I feel a win coming on!
No exploding cars, ambulances or hospitalisation this week.
